This tournament was held in Irkutsk and Shelekhov at the outdoor arenas Zenith, Trud, Stroitel and Record. 10 countries played from March 1 to 6.


Richard Čaládi – satisfied goalkeeper in Team Slovakia after a good premiere game without dropping any goal on Sunday morning. Slovakia won against Latvia 4-0.

Referees and some FIB Officials received a warm welcome in Irkutsk!

When the first group of referees and FIB Officials arrived at their hotel in Irkutsk they received a welcome with accordion, singing and traditionally sharing on a freshly baked bread. The referees started with a review and on Saturday night it is time for their first work out on ice before the first games Sunday morning.

THIS IS IRKUTSK

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia in Russia, located on the Baikal Lake shore in southern Siberia. Lake Baikal is the largest lake in the world by volume, and the deepest lake in the world with a maximum depth of 1 642 m. Irkutsk is a significant military city and seat of the Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church. The city is 5 185 km by rail from Moscow.

Irkutsk grew up around settlements established in 1653 by Ivan Pochabov for the collection of taxes from the locals. In 1760, the first road link was established between Moscow and Irkutsk, which contributed to rapid economic development. Trade with China increased.

THIS IS SHELEKHOV

Is a city in Irkutsk Oblast. Shelekhov has a railroad station on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, 20 km southwest Irkutsk. The city was named in honor of G. I. Shelikhov. It is located on the plains between the rivers Irkut and Olha.

Shelekhov was founded in 1953 when the first construction workers of the Irkutsk Aluminum Smelter had installed the first six housing tents. In 1962, Shelekhov was granted town status.

The first inhabitants were the people of the villages Olkha, Markovo, Vvedenschina and the settlement of Bolshoj Lug. In June 1956 the first workers of the Orel Komsomol arrived on train to the site. The first kindergarten was opened on 15 September 1955 and the first high school was opened by the end of 1956. Today 48 000 people live in Shelekhov.
