As expected the Swedish women defended the championship and won a new gold. The game against Norway was Swedish from the start. Tilda Ström the dominating goal scorer, as usual, with 3 goals!

BRONZE TO USA!

The bronze medal match was goalless but exciting all the way until Tamara Meuwissen scored and gave the USA a 1-0 lead. But it continued to be exciting. The final nail in the coffin occurred when Ellen Larson scored 2-0 with only extra time left. To be on the safe side, Allison Thunström scored
3-0 and the bronze medal match was decided.

The future of USA Women’s team…

Last time a Womens World Championship was held in Finland was in 2014 when Laappenranta (Villmanstrand) was the host city. The Russian women won the Championship for the first time in history, defeating Sweden, 3-1 in the final. It was also the first time Sweden did not become World Champion. Finland won bronze after a 3-2 game against Norway.

THE HOST WEBSITE

Antti Parviainen, Chair of the Finnish Bandy Association, is of course excited about the decision to be able to host those two tournaments in January.

-This is a major victory for Finnish bandy tradition – the World Championships are returning to Finland after 25 years for men and after 11 years for women. A tremendous amount of work has gone into this bid, and we owe a big thank you to the City of Pori and bandy club Narukerä for their early and enthusiastic support. Now that the decision is official, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Personally, I hope to see strong backing from the business community and the entire bandy and sports family for this historic event, said Antti Parviainen before the tournaments.

Sweden won the WCS Women 2025.
