After 22 years the World Championship for Women will return to the origin. The first World Championship for women was played in Finland in 2004. The venue was the city of Lappeenranta. Read about it!
FIB 2026 World Championship Men A and Women A will be held in the city of Pori (Björneborg) in Finland. Pori is situated 243 kilometers northwest of Helsinki and 140 kilometer north of Turku (Åbo).

To lower costs to support the participation nations with both men and women teams, the women’s tournament encompasses 5 days as there are less teams than in the men’s tournament.

Early start Saturday-Sunday to give room for eventual delays due to extra time/penalty shootouts.
Last time a Womens World Championship was held in Finland was in 2014 when Laappenranta (Villmanstrand) was the host city. The Russian women won the Championship for the first time in history, defeating Sweden, 3-1 in the final. It was also the first time Sweden did not become World Champion. Finland won silver after a 3-2 bronze game against Norway.
