The FIB President for 16 years, 2006-2022, Boris Skrynnik, died today, the 11th of December 2025. Mr Skrynnik was also the President of the Russian Bandy Federation and an honored leader of his country.
As a player, Boris played for Vodnik from youth team and worked his way up from being coach of the senior team and then to be the President of the club.
In 2005, he moved to Moscow and became vice president of the capital’s team, Dynamo Moscow. Then he entered the international arena when he was elected as FIB President in February 2006. He held that title until 2022.
In 2009 he became head of the Russian Bandy Federation and he managed to get re-elected 4 times 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024.
Holder of several national sports leadership role, he was not only a respected leader, he also gave many proofs of his special abilities to co-operate and inspire people around him.

“Boris was not only an exceptional athlete and a devoted leader of his national federation, but also a visionary President of the Federation of International Bandy. His tireless dedication and passion for bandy helped develop the sport across many new countries. He hosted several World Championships at the highest level – his great contributions will never be forgotten. On behalf of the FIB, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and work.”
Arne Anderstedt, Chairman of FIB Competition Committee, worked close to Boris Skrynnik for 16 years:
‘Boris were very positive to new thoughts and supported development. He was always available and cared about the people he worked with. He simply had a very big heart!’
Boris Skrynnik was 78 years old.
