UNIQUE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MOMENTS COMING UP!

This bandy season will be unlike anything else in the international bandy history.
Seven unique events will draw great interest to our beloved sport.

Pori in Finland and Uppsala in Sweden are the cities in focus!

PORI, FINLAND IN JANUARY!

The World Championship Seniors A will be held in Finland for the first time in 25 years!

The city of Pori, the Finnish Bandy Federation and the local elite club Narukerä are putting all their efforts together to give the world of bandy a memorable event. Nearly all World Championship and World Cup Club teams tournaments are played indoors nowadays.

But Pori will welcome to two events that brings bandy outdoors again. Many bandy supporters get something wet in the eye when they think back on how it was when bandy was played outdoors during the best conditions with -5 degrees Celsius under the sun. Those times will Pori bring us back to, during a magical week in January 2026.

Attila Adamfi, FIB General Secretary:
-It is truly special to see the FIB World Championships return to Finland after 25 years — a place where tradition, passion, and the spirit of bandy run deep. For me personally, this moment carries an even deeper meaning. Twenty-five years ago, as a young boy, I took part in my very first World Championships. To now return to Finland as one of the leaders of this great organization is both humbling and heartwarming. It reminds me how far our sport — and all of us within it — have come. I am filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement for what promises to be an unforgettable championship in Pori.

UPPSALA, SWEDEN IN MARCH!

5 World Championship Tournaments in the same arena!

World Championship Men and Women Group B during week 12 and the World Championship Women 17, Men 17 and Men 19 during week 13!

Henrik Nilsson, FIB President:
It’s truly exciting that all these five World Championships will take place in the same city and arena! Having the Men’s and Women’s B-World Championships together with the Women 17, Men 17 and Men19 in Uppsala will create a fantastic festival of international bandy. A big thanks to Svenska Bandyförbundet, Uppsala BoIS, IFK Uppsala and Uppsala Municipality for making this vision a reality!

Five World Championship tournaments in Uppsala, the city that for 20 years was the center of bandy finals in Sweden. But now Uppsala will be in focus for the international bandy!

World Championship Men and Women Senior Group B – During the week that starts with 16 March. (Detailed dates will be  decided soon.)

Ludvig von Polgar, IFK Uppsala:
It feels great to be able to host this time too. Last year’s men’s tournament was a real success, both the teams and the audience appreciated the arrangement and the atmosphere in Uppsala. Now we are looking forward to also hosting the women’s national teams and trying to top that experience. It means a lot to bandy that we can continue to showcase Uppsala as a vibrant bandy city, even if we of course miss the Swedish Championship final here.

World Championship Women 17, Men 17 and Men 19 – During 26-29 March!

Per Korpås, chairman of Uppsala BoIS, organizer of the Youth Tournaments:
– For us at Uppsala BoIS, this is something very special. In everyday life, bandy is about volunteer efforts, junior training and keeping the ice open, and now we get to welcome the world’s best young players here to our home field. We want them to feel at home here, regardless of which country they come from, and for the tournament to be a memory that strengthens both their love for the sport and the community around it.

Invitations will be sent out later to all FIB Member Associations to participate in these senior tournaments.
