Last Friday, 25 April, Frank Peters was honored with a royal award by becoming a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau for his contributing in both international and national bandy.
Order of Orange-Nassau was created on 4 April 1892. It is conferred on people who have made a contribution of outstanding value to the community. Examples include volunteers working with young people or refugees, or involved in environmental conservation, informal care, neighbourhood associations or sports clubs. The Order is also awarded to people for outstanding achievements in their work, surpassing those of others in their field and exceeding what would normally be expected of someone in their particular job.
Frank Peters has been a board member of the Dutch Bandy Federation for many years and as such he led the organization.

He has also been a board member of the Bandy Club Nijmegen, where he also had a great influence on the day-to-day running of the club as a federation director. As a player he made a considerable contribution to the teams high level.
Another activity that should be mentioned is the establishment of the Bandy Events Foundation. In this capacity, Frank Peters managed to bring the Rinkbandy World Championships to Nijmegen twice during the 90’s. After that, the Bandy Events Foundation was able to help finance the training camps in Sweden for the youth players for many years.
In his work for FIB Technical Committee during decades he has been a unifying force in handling often difficult and skill-demanding tasks.

Frank has been appointed Tournament Director for many FIB World Championships for Youth, the last was World Championship Girls 17 in Oslo in 2023. During the Winter Universiade (men and woman at University level age max 25 years old) in Krasnoyarsk 2019, he was appointed by FIB as Tournament Director. Bandy was a great success with 24 matches. All the 5000 seats in Yenisei Stadium was sold out during several games. Russian “Match TV” produced the best footage from Bandy ever with a 10 camera production. Frank had a big responsibility for this great bandy tournament with a lot of logistic challenges. The Winter Universiade can be comparded with Winter Olympic Games. The Winter Universiade had for example 5000 volunteers. During 18 days Frank Peters carried out that historic mission.
In 2024 Frank was part of the big work to revise FIB Conditions and Guidelines for different World Championships and World Cup tournaments in bandy.
This great man has spent decades for the best of the beloved sport of bandy.
FIB expresses its warmest tributes to Frank Peters.
