2012 FIB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN

World Bandy Championship since the start in 2006. It is the first time the tournament is held in Russia. Sweden claimed its sixth straight gold after final victory over host nation Russia by 5-3, while Finland took the bronze after a 4-1 win against Canada.
The six nations that took part in the tournament all met each other once, then the best four advanced to the semifinals while the fifth and sixth played for place five. In the round robin stage and the semifinals, matches were decided during 2×30 minutes. The playoff games were decided for 2×45 minutes. Ties were decided via penalties, only to be able to separate the teams if they ended up on the same final score in the game schedule.
