2003 FIB WORLD CUP MEN
Ljusdal, Sweden, 23-26 October
The tournament was won by the Russian club HK Vodnik, after defeating Sandvikens AIK from Sweden 4-3 in the final match.
Vodnik and Sandviken were the only teams to go through the group stage with three straight victories. Vodnik beat Swedish Broberg, Finnish Tornio and Swedish Västerås, while Sandviken defeated Swedish teams Vänersborg and Boltic and Norwegian Sarpsborg in the group stage.
In the quarter-final game, Vodnik won big over Vänersborg 6-1 and Sandviken defeated Broberg, as usual for Sandviken on a penalty shootout after 2-2 in the match. In their semi-final, Vodnik won over the Russian colleague Kuzbass with 3-2, while Sandviken knocked out their Swedish colleague Edsbyns IF with 4-1.
The final match was very even and exciting until the end, but Vodnik won 4-3 after 3-1 at halftime.
