TONKA BAY BOMBERS USA CHAMPION!

Explosive offense and stifling defense, that was the recipe that gave the Tonka Bay Bombers the league title in the United States!

Mike Lickteig MVP

Tonka Bay Bombers won their second straight USA Championship and the Gunnar Cup. It was a 5-1 win over the Mississippi Mojo. The Bombers won the first final game 4-1 and were hoping to close out the series in the second game. Mississippi Mojo came out guns a blazin’ in the first half of the second game to try to get back in the series. A spectacular rink long dash and top shelf goal by the Bombers Ryan Collins gave them a 1-0 lead, suddenly shifting the momentum back to the Bombers.

In the second half the Mojo’s high powered offense led by Mike Carman, Mike Hosfield and Alex Turtinen had several long rushes, but could not consistently find gaps for clear shots on goal as Bomber fullbacks Kirby Horgan, Orion Olson and Andy Fronek were rock solid the whole match. When shots did go through, keeper Mac Berglove was stellar in goal.
After Collins’ initial goal, Bomber forward Jon Keseley continued his legendary scoring magic with 4 straight goals, giving the Bombers a solid 5-1 win and a rare second straight USA title. For both his scoring and defensive efforts, Keseley’s teammate Mike Lickteig was named Playoff Most Valuable Player.
FIB sends congrats to the Bombers on their victory and the Mojo for a great regular season and trip to the final.Â
