IF Boltic from Karlstad, Sweden, defended the World Cup title in Ljusdal after the victory 1985. There was a tight Preliminary Round when Boltic ended up in second place after Khabarovsk.
Khabarovsk won the game in the group against Boltic but the Swedes got a great revenge in the semifinal and qualified to the final game against Vetlanda BK. Also the final got quite exciting and Boltic won the World Cup title after a 2-1 victory.
