5 UNIQUE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS LEFT THIS SEASON!

The international bandy season 2025-2026 is far from over. There are 5 World Championship tournaments left – in one city – in one indoor arena!
Two of this seasons seven World Championships for men and women were played in Finland.  Sweden will become the host country for a completely unique venture.
The FIB hosts World Championship Group B for men and women together with the local organizer IFK Uppsala. The  Swedish Bandy Federation hosts the 3 youth tournaments together with Uppsala BoIS as local organizer. This event will give the bandy audience a festive moment. It has never been done before in the history of bandy. 5 World Championships for 9 days during 2 weeks in the same city and in the same indoor arena – The Serwent Arena!

Henrik Nilsson is President for FIB:
Bringing all these championships together at the same time is a historic and impressive achievement.
This unique event highlights Sweden’s strong tradition, passion and leadership in the sport.
It will be an unforgettable celebration of bandy community and world-class competition.

Attila Adamfi

– Following the successful World Championships B group last year, Uppsala
increases its footprint in international Bandy, says Attila Adamfi, General Secretary of FIB. And he continues:
– Uppsala already proved to be a great host, historically. We have no doubt that in partnership with IFK Uppsala and Uppsala BoIS, we will provide a perfect stage for this celebration of bandy and the participating teams and athletes will return home with unforgettable memories.

THIS IS UPPSALA
Uppsala city center lies on both banks of the river Fyrisån, about five kilometers above its outlet in the Mälaren at the Ekoln Bay. One of the Swedish main roads, E4, passes Uppsala from Stockholm on the eastern side of the city and continues to the north of Sweden.
Distinctive for Uppsala is the river “Fyrisån”, the cathedral and the castle. A sensitivity to the so-called Uppsala silhouette (the cathedral and castle seen from a distance) has long characterized Uppsala’s urban planning and is one of several reasons why the number of buildings taller than 5–6 stories is small.
The city plan of 1643 still characterizes the city center’s street network. The square “Stora Torget”, with its closed corners and four converging main streets, is a unique place formation from the great power era.
Uppsala is hometown of three major bandy clubs, IFK Uppsala, IK Sirius and Uppsala BoIS. IFK Uppsala has won 11 Swedish Championships thru the history. IK Sirius has won 5 championships.
