This week we look back on the last senior World Championship tournament, Men A in Pori, Finland during 12-18 January. During Russia’s absence, Sweden has won all the championships. Including this one in Pori.
Finland increased the atmosphere in the preliminary round when the team beat Sweden. The victory ended 5-4 after the winning goal only 4 minutes before the end. But in the final match between the teams, Sweden took revenge and won by a landslide
9-1.
The event with the women’s and the men’s tournaments was a big success with thousands of people in the stands in several games. A really well organized outdoor World Championship by the Finnish Bandy Federation.

Sweden won the gold, Finland the silver medals and Norway won the bronze after a big victory against USA, 8-3.

There was a king in the final between Sweden and Finland. Christoffer Edlund (below) the Swedish top forward scored 5 of Sweden’s 9 goal and after the game he declared that it had been his final game in the Swedish national jersey.
