SWEDEN WORLD CHAMPION AFTER A GREAT FINAL GAME!
And that was no question about it. Christoffer Edlund showed at once, when he scored the first goal for Sweden, that this will be another game than in the Preliminary Round. Then when Finland won 4-3. It was rough and tough during the first half. Finland also got a match penalty when Ville Hämäläinen had to leave the ice for the match after a cross checking. One player on the penalty bench is often not so difficult, but during the whole second half, it get’s tough.
Christoffer Edlund was the biggest decisive player on ice with 5 goals. But he has decided to stop his years in the national team, that was what he said after the final game. Then the world of bandy will lose one of the very best, at least in the yellow jersey.
The final got tougher for Finland than the game in Preliminary Round as Sweden scored three goals the first 30 minutes. But it was a real outdoor party in Pori, even if the wrong team won, at least what most of the people in the stands felt.
The organizing Finnish Bandy Federation estimated the number of spectators at the final to be 3,000 people and 17,000 spectators throughout the week.
FIB asked one of the organizers in Pori on how many people there will be
in the stands during the hot final?
“There will be people everywhere!”
And it was!
