WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Y21 MEN CANCELLED THIS SEASON

International sports events have difficult times right now. FIB is also working hard to take a new approach to create new conditions for bandy. But so far, bandy also has difficulties in carrying out everything that has been planned.

The Finnish Bandy Federation have unfortunately been forced to come to the decision that there will be no World Championship for Y21 Men this season. The tournament was planned to be held in Jyväskylä, Finland December 16-18, 2022.

The Finnish federation point at some aspects that was evaluated, and they are easy to understand;

  • The national season in Finland should have started already and they are currently in the situation that almost all matches set for November must be moved to a later date. The weather forecast for the coming weeks is hopeless and a great part of the Finnish Bandy league is at risk to be postponed/or shrunk in extent.
  • The costs for the national federation to arrange the tournament out of the current FIB economical conditions and only five weeks ahead is to much for the federation.

The teams who had shown interest to participate was Hungary, Sweden, Ukraine and Finland.
