The 12th International Athletes Forum (IAF) in Lausanne, Switzerland had over 400 athlete representatives. This time, Bandy was officially represented by the Vice-Chair of the Athletes Committee (AC) of the FIB. Gian Luca Beeler participated for two days at different panels, and discussions with many other members of different Athletes Committees.
Thomas Bach, who is president of the IOC till the 23th of June 2025, answered once again questions from all the athletes representatives. Also, the new President of the IOC, Kirsty Coventry, spoke about their future plans and she emphasized the importance of the athletes. The Special guest this time was Rafael Nadal, two-time gold medal winner at the olympics. He spoke about sportsmanship and about his feeling to represent his country.
The Athletes Committee could proudly show, that bandy has an active athletes community. The AC is a group of five elected athletes from different countries, levels, gender and ages. During the last World Championship in 2025 all the athletes elected these members. Like that the interest and needs of the athletes can be collected in one group. And more important, the Chair of the AC, Rebecca Draper, has a seat in the Executive Committee. For example, the AC created a survey during the World Championship and shared the results and their thoughts with the Executive Committee.

-Sport is about solidarity, and solidarity means more than respect. You can respect someone if they have a different opinion to you, but the step we’re making in sport is from respect to solidarity. You not only respect each other; you help each other.
Words from Thomas Bach, IOC President and a former Olympic Champion in team Foil Fencing at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.
The FIB Athletes Committe currently consists of Rebecca Draper, Chair from USA, Gian Luca Beeler, vice Chair from Switzerland, Jordan Braam, The Netherlands, Sanna Gustafsson, Sweden and Judith Waller, Great Britain.
