2009 FIB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEN
Eskilstuna, Solna, Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås, Sweden, 18-25 January
Group A and Group B were played simultaneously and in the same place, but Group B started three days later. The 4 top teams in Group A played the semi finals. The team on place 6 in Group A played the team on first place in Group B as qualifying game for Group A in 2010. The tournament was held in the Swedish cities Eskilstuna, Solna, Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås.
Sweden defeated Russia 6-1 in the final game and captured for the ninth time the World Championship title. Finland won the bronze medals by beating Kazakhstan 7-5. Norway finished on fifth place and Belarus as the last team played the winner of Group B, USA, in the decisive game Group A next year. Belarus beat USA in that qualifying game.
