Magnus Skold, USA
Magnus Skold’s tremendous and epic contributions to the sport of bandy, both in the US and internationally, goes back 45 years!
He was one of the group that founded bandy in the US in 1980, is an original member of the American Bandy Association, and continues on the ABA Board to this day. Together with Chris Middlebrook he formed The Minnesota Bandy Federation in 1984.
Magnus Skold was also the driving force behind the 1993 construction of the artificially refrigerated bandy rink in Minnesota, USA. He was Co-Chairman/Organizer, together with Chris Middlebrook, of the 1995 Men’s World Championships in USA. Magnus Skold was also Chairman/Organizer of the 2006 Women’s World Championships also in Minnesota, USA.
General Manager for over 45 US National Teams, men’s, women’s and boy’s, competing in International Tournaments is another big contribution.
Magnus Skold’s FIB merits:
- Mr. Skold became a member of FIB in 1981. He is the longest serving member in the history of FIB, having served on the Development Committee, the Senior Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee.
- Together with Leif Klingborg and Leo Segerman, he started FIB’s Women’s Bandy Program in 2003, which includes the initial Women’s World Championships in Finland 2004
