FIB EVENT HISTORY – LAUNCHED!
Federation of International Bandy has now added an important part of the international bandy to it’s website.
“FIB Event History” documents the international bandy thru history from the first World Championship tournament in 1957.
FIB has chosen to let the international bandy history become part of the website. The ambition for the project has been to include the senior World Championships for national teams and World Cups for club teams, both men and women. Since the material had to be dug out of various archives, museums and searches on the internet, there are some gaps. But since the archive is online, it is easy to supplement content.

FIB General Secretary Attila Adamfi:
– Focusing on today’s and tomorrow’s challenges often make us forget our history. Without respecting our rich history we have no bright future. Beside establishing the FIB Hall of Fame to honour individuals, we launch the FIB History project as well.
The archive FIB have launched will be able to grow. FIB have already started to receive supplementary material. There are a lot of statistics, stories, match protocols, pictures and even videos at national federations, clubs or in private caches. FIB is interested in letting the archive grow with the help of many people.
The history in sports have since long time attracted a lot of interest. Now it has become possible for bandy enthusiasts to remember the international tournaments that have fascinated over the decades.
–We are excited to embark on a journey that honours and preserves the rich legacy of our sport from its very first edition in 1957. This project will meticulously gather and celebrate the milestones and memories that have shaped FIB’s storied past, ensuring they inspire future generations of bandy enthusiasts, concludes Attila Adamfi.

Kjell Anderstedt has created FIB Event History:
-I noticed the lack of historical documentation when I entered my work with FIB website a few years ago. Bo Nyman was General Secretary at the time and he supported the idea for this project.
– I believe that knowledge of our history allows us to better understand why we do what we do today and perhaps also gives an insight into what the future may look like. There have been several thousand hours of digging through archives and searching on the internet. The week in the basement of Ljusdalsbygdens Museum in Sweden digging for the World Cup statistic is a memory for life.
Why an archive on FIB website and not a printed one?
-This archive will be able to grow and develop. To let FIB national member federations, clubs and individuals participate with documentations, match protocols, stories and their own pictures or videos. I know there are many committed bandy friends around the world with their own archives. I hope they find it interesting to share with others via FIB Event History archive, says Kjell Anderstedt.
