2007 FIB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN

Budapest, Hungary, 11-17 February

The 2007 Women’s World Championship was the third Championship.  All matches were played 2 x 30 minutes, except the final which was played 2 x 45 minutes. Sweden won gold again, for the third time. Russia was second and Norway third. Hungary made its debut in the tournament. Sweden won the final against Russia 3-2 after an extremely dramatic and exciting match.

This was the first time a Championship was played already the year after the previous Championship.

This was a big success for the bandy in North America. Canada won for the first time against Finland, played draw against Norway and played semifinals for the first time. No North American national team had won or played a draw against Sweden, Finland, Norway or Russia. USA played a draw against Sweden in the group stage.
