1985 FIB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEN

Oslo and 6 other places, Norway, 3-10 February



The 1985 World Championship was the 14th over time. The tournament had five teams participating and was held in the cities of Oslo, Drammen, Mjøndalen, Solbergelva, Stabæk, Røa and Ullern.

USA participated for the first time, and thus Championship was not for only a settlement between the USSR, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

The championship was won by USSR after final victory over the defending World Champions from Sweden 5-4 after extended playing time. It was USSR’s 12th  title of all time and the first since 1979, while Sweden won the silver for the eighth time. The bronze medals went to Finland, which defeated the host country Norway 6-2 in the bronze game.
