2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEN A AND MEN B

The World Championships Men A and Men B 2009 was the 29th Men’s Bandy World Championship and was held in Sweden from 18 to 25 January 2009. The opening ceremony took place on 18 January 2009. A- and B-tournament were played at the same time on the same places. Men Group B started three days later. The top four teams in Group A advanced to the semi-finals. The 6th place team in Group A faced the 1st place team in Group B The winner should participate in Men Group A in 2010.
Sweden defeated Russia 6–1 in the final match to win their ninth World Championship title, while Finland won the bronze medals by beating Kazakhstan 7–5 in the third-place match. Norway finished in fifth place. Belarus played the United States, who won Group B, in a decisive match to determine which team would play in Group A next year. For the fifth tournament in a row, Belarus defeated the United States in the qualifying match.
