FIB Congress with Executive Committee Election in Stockholm.

Today, Saturday 8 June, the FIB held its Ordinary Congress which then concluded with FIB Executive Committee election in Stockholm, Sweden. Altogether 13 countries were represented in-person while several members followed the Congress online.

The main decisions of the Congress were the following:

  • Italy was granted a full membership status;
  • Modification of FIB Statutes were made;
  • Report of the different Committees were approved ;
  • The Congress approved the creation of a FIB Strategic Plan to ensure the sustainable future of the organization.

To create a direct pathway to athlete representation in the governing body of FIB, the Congress ratified the FIB Athletes Committee Members approved by the FIB EC:

  • Mr BATA Daniel Laszlo Dr (HUN)
  • Mr BEELER Gian Luca Dario (SUI)
  • Ms DRAPER Rebecca Lynn (USA)
  • Ms GUSTAFSSON Sanna (SWE)

As the conclusion of todays meeting, the Congress unanimously supported the proposal of the Election Committee and elected the following members to the FIB Executive Committee:

thanked the Members for demonstrating unity and support:

-I am extremely happy to be elected as the new FIB President, and would like to thank the Member Associations for putting their trust in me. Of course this is not a one man show, it takes the team to ensure that Federation has a great future. I am sure that with continious collaboration with the different stakeholders we will be able to reach our goals and ensure a better future for the sport.

Following the FIB Congress, the new FIB Executive Committee (EC) held its first meeting where the members discussed the main areas where they should focus in the near future.  The FIB EC agreed on their next meeting, and discussed urgent topics such as next years World Championships.
